My practice is a layering: a layering of textured handmade papers, canvas, paints and inks. A layering that masks itself upon itself, calling attention to its lack, and in so doing its desire. If there are traces of expressionist interventions, they are halted. My practice is a process of failing, of attempting to contain the memories, the fleeting, the idealizations, the deceptions and the grieving of another. Through a tactile study of organic materials, in painting, book making or design, I am drawn to instincts as a methodology. Often interrupting the expected, to purposefully embrace accidents and subtle imperfections.
